چکیده

This paper presents a new way to model clothing worn by articulated implicit characters. A scalar field is produced using ellipsoids as primitives. Isosurfaces are then used to place garments in one or more layers. As each implicit surface is independent, collision detection is not needed. The cloth is a polygonal mesh whose vertices are in turn moved towards their destination isosurface using the gradient of the scalar field. In order to maintain the cloth’s shape and size a net of simple springs is used. We improve appearance by adding noise to simulate wrinkles and light wind.

The purpose of this study was to determine the thermoregulatory response to, perceived comfort and moisture management properties of, base-layer garments during intermittent treadmill exercise in controlled laboratory conditions. Seven males performed an intermittent treadmill protocol whilst wearing a base-layer hot garment, base-layer cold garment, a 100% cotton t-shirt and bare-chested. Envi...

Convex Two-Layer Modeling

Latent variable prediction models, such as multi-layer networks, impose auxiliary latent variables between inputs and outputs to allow automatic inference of implicit features useful for prediction. Unfortunately, such models are difficult to train because inference over latent variables must be performed concurrently with parameter optimization—creating a highly non-convex problem. Instead of ...

Scientific Flow Field Simulation of Cruciform Missiles Through the Thin Layer Navier Stokes Equations

The thin-layer Navier-Stokes equations are solved for two complete missile configurations on an IBM 3090-200 vectro-facility supercomputer. The conservation form of the three-dimensional equations, written in generalized coordinates, are finite differenced and solved on a body-fitted curvilinear grid system developed in conjunction with the flowfield solver. The numerical procedure is based on ...

A Multi-Formalism Modeling Framework: Formal Definitions, Model Composition and Solution Strategies

In this paper, we present a multi-formalism modeling framework (abbreviated by MFMF) for modeling and simulation. The proposed framework is defined based on the concepts of meta-models and uses object-orientation to overcome the complexities and to enhance the extensibility. The framework can be used as a basis for modeling by various formalisms and to support model composition in a unified man...

Customizing 3D garments based on volumetric deformation

Improving the reusability of design results is very important for garment design industry, since designing an elegant garment is usually labor-intensive and time-consuming. In this paper, we present a new approach for customizing 3D garment models. Our approach can transfer garment models initially dressed on a reference human model onto a target human model. To achieve this goal, firstly a spa...
